PE Systems proudly highlights the recent community outreach efforts of Scotty Myers, who supports Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, and represented the aviation field during Career Day at Pass Christian Middle School. The event drew over 560 students from grades 5–8 and featured more than 50 career tables—yet aviation had just one representative: Scotty. His presence provided students with an invaluable opportunity to discover the many exciting paths available within the aviation industry.
Engaging Students Through Hands‑On Learning
To make the experience memorable and interactive, Scotty transformed his booth into a “mini‑aviation program office,” turning every student into a “Program Manager for a Day.” Their mission? Build and test their own styrofoam aircraft.
This simple, nostalgic activity became a powerful learning tool. As students assembled their planes, Scotty introduced them to key concepts such as:

One of the most impactful lessons centered around the tiny, clear plastic nose tip—a part so small and subtle that many students didn’t initially notice it was missing. Without it, their aircraft flipped or spiraled out of control immediately upon launch. This moment created a memorable connection between aircraft design and real‑world engineering challenges.

Turning Mistakes Into Milestones
Approximately 20% of the students quickly recognized missing parts and earned recognition for their strong observational skills. The remaining 80% learned through trial, error, and guidance—returning to the model aircraft on Scotty’s table to analyze differences and discover what wasn’t working.
By the end of the activity:
The excitement, pride, and sense of accomplishment on their faces said it all.
A Booth Students Won’t Forget
In addition to the hands‑on activity, Scotty ensured the booth offered plenty of fun. The aviation‑themed swag—especially the sunglasses—was a major hit with students and teachers alike. His energy, enthusiasm, and ability to connect made the aviation booth one of the day’s standout attractions.
Supporting the Next Generation of Innovators
PE Systems extends a heartfelt thank‑you to Scotty Myers for his outstanding representation of both our company and the aviation profession. His dedication helped spark curiosity and excitement in students who may one day pursue roles in engineering, aviation, or aerospace.
We also thank PE Systems leadership for supporting initiatives that invest in our youth and strengthen our communities. Events like these help ensure the next generation is inspired, informed, and ready to explore careers that make a meaningful impact.
